1924 – Richard Kelly, born on the 31st of July in Atlanta, Georgia. He was also the only Republican approached for a bribe by the FBI.

1980 – He was an American politician who was the only Republican convicted of taking bribes in the Abscam scandal.
The conviction was later overturned on the basis that the FBI had used entrapment. However, an appeals court upheld the conviction and he served 13 months in federal prison.
1981 – Convicted of Bribery and Conspiracy on the 26th of January but the decision was overturned on the 14th of May the following year.
2005 – Died Monday, on the 22nd of August in Stevensville, Montana.
