1923 - Kelly Ellsworth, born on the 31st of May in Newburgh, New York, USA. He is an American painter and sculptor associated with Hard-edge painting, Color field painting and the minimalist school.
1946 - 1948 - He studied at the Boston Museum School under Karl Zerbe.
1948 - 1954 - He then studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France, through the G.I. Bill.
1968 - He was preoccupied with objects as art, colour patterns, and random collages, and his shaped canvas, Two Panels: Blue, Red, reveals his exploration of colour as emotion.
1973 - His first retrospective was held at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
