1961 - Toby Keith Covel was born on the 8th of July in Clinton, Oklahoma.

1979 - He worked as a derrick hand in the oil fields of Oaklahoma.

         - He formed the "Easy Money Band" and played at local bars while still  employed on the oil fields.

1982 - Keith lost his job on the oil fields and played defensive with the semi-pro "Oaklahoma City Drillers" while continuing to play for his band.

1984 - The "Easy Money" began playing the honky tonk circuit in Oklahoma and Texas.

         - Married his wife Tricia Zinter on the 24th of March.

1993 - Keith went to Nashville, Tennessee. Keith hung out and busked on Music Row.

         - He signed a recording contract with Mercury Records.

1994-1996 - Keith moved to Polydor Records and released his next two albums "Boomtown" and "Blue Moon".

         - Keith was also featured on the Beach Boys' now out-of-print 1996 album "Stars and Stripes Vol. 1" performing a cover of their 1963 hit "Be True to Your School" with the Beach Boys themselves providing the harmonies and backing vocals.

1997 - He went back with Mercury Records presently called Mercury Nashville and released his 4th album "Dream Walkin'".

1999 - Keith began work on his next album "How Do You Like Me Now" at Mercury but purchased the rights to the album and moved to DreamWorks Nashville.

2001 - On the 24th of March, Keith’s father, H.K. Covel, was killed in a car accident. That event and the September 11, 2001 attacks prompted Keith to write the song "Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)"

2002 - He made television appearances and endorsed for Telecom USA and Ford.

2005 - He was the subject of Playboy Magazine's "Playboy Interview".
