1945 – Born on June 19th in Petnjica, Montenegro. Bosnian Serb politician. The name “butcher of Bosnia” was one popular description of the first president of the Bosnian Serb republic.

1989 – He was the co-founder of the Serbian Democratic Party (Srpska Demokratska Stranka) in Bosnia-Herzegovin.

1990 – He was the leader of Bosnian Serbs.

1995 – Karadzic was indicted by an international war crimes tribunal for the massacre of Bosniak and Croat civilians during the war. He was forced to resign and  continued to run the Serb-controlled part of Bosnia and Herzegovina from a mountain hideaway outside the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo.

         – He’s alleged to have sanctioned concentration camps, torture, rape and massacres of civilians.

2001 – Dozens of Yugoslav war criminals have been publicly indicted, with Karadzic and his war commander General Mladic among the few top leaders in that group.
