1888 - Born on July 10th in Kobe, Japan. Japanese Christian evangelist, humanitarian, and labor leader
1912 - Unionized the shipyard workers.
1914-1916 - He spent two years at Princeton studying techniques for the relief of poverty.
1918-1921 - He organized unions among factory workers and among farmers.
1923 - He was asked to supervise social work in Tokyo.
1925 - He worked for universal male suffrage which was granted and for laws more favorable to trade unions.
1940 - He founded the Anti-War League and was arrested after publicly apologizing to China for the Japanese invasion of that country.
1941 - He visited the United States in an attempt to avert war between Japan and the United States.
1960 - Died on April 23rd in Tokyo.
