Jones, David (Deacon)

1793 – He was born on the 8th day of March this year in Wales.

1813 – He married Catherine Hughes, daughter of the local pastor. A year later in childbirth she and the baby died.

1822 – He re-married Elizabeth Williams (d.1826).

1834 - Jones sailed with his family in the Thomas Harrison for Hobart, whence with plans for expanding business, he traveled overland to Launceston to gauge the needs of the settlers.

1835 - He arrived in the Medway at Sydney in September on this year.

1849 – His business prospered and with his wife he visited England and Wales

1856 - He retired from active management of the business.

1866 – he was seriously ill on this year but, under the treatment of his son Philip, he made a remarkable recovery.

1873 – He died on the 29th day of March this year in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
