1934 - Johnson was born in Moline, Illinois on April 28, 1934.
1957 - Got her BA at the University of Utah.
1966 - Got her Master's degree at the University of California, Los Angeles.
1968 - Finished her PhD at the University of California, Los Angeles.
1968-1987 - Taught english at the University of California, Los Angeles. Contibuted articles to The New York Review of Books.
1997 - Written "Le Divorce" in which she was a finalist in the National Book Award.
2003 - Her novel "Le Divorce" was put into movie starring Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts.
