1846 – Born in Kansas City, Missouri on the 23rd of October.
1863 – Came to the Arizona Territory from San Francisco arriving first in Prescott, the territorial seat.
1869 – Married Victoria Zaff and had two children.
1880 – Moved to Tombstone and worked for a short time as bartender in the Grand Hotel.
1881 – Appointed first Sheriff of Cochise County, Arizona by Governor Fremont.
– Behan was a witness to the gunfight at the O.K. Corral on the 26th of October.
1882 – He had a feud with his own deputy Breakenridge. Behan thus lost the nomination.
– Forced out of office in November.
– Behan served as the Deputy Superintendent of the Yuma Penitentiary.
– Served as a soldier in the Spanish American war.
1912 – Died on the 7th of June of "Bright’s disease" immune-related renal failure in Tucson.
