Jeffries, Walter Matthew (Matt)
1921 - Born on August 12th in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Matt Jeffries, the man who designed the fictional Starship Enterprise for the original television series "Star Trek".
- During World War II Jeffries was a flight engineer and copilot on B-17s, flying combat missions out of England, Africa and Italy earning the Bronze Star and Air Medal.
1964 - Gene Roddenberry approached Matt to design the ship for a new TV series, Star Trek.
1966 - Designed the Enterprise before the series first appeared, and remained with the show for years.
2003 - Died on July 21st at the age of 82 in Sherman Oaks Hospital.
