John Hardy Isakson (Johnny)
1944 - Born in Atlanta on the 28th of December.
1966-1972 - He served as a staff sgt. in the Georgia Air National Guard.
1979 - He became company president, a post he held for 22 years, during which Northside became the biggest independent real estate company in Georgia.
1974 - Isakson first entered Republican politics, losing a race for the Georgia House of Representatives in an eastern Cobb County district.
1976 - He ran again and won.
1990 - He served seven terms in the House, the last two as minority leader. He was the Republican candidate for governor of Georgia, losing to Democratic lieutenant governor Zell Miller.
1996 - He ran in the Republican primary for the Senate seat being vacated by Sam Nunn. However, when he announced his candidacy, he declared that he was the pro-choice Republican candidate.
1999 - In January 1999, 6th District Congressman and House Speaker Newt Gingrich faced a revolt in his caucus after the Republicans lost five seats in the midterm elections two months earlier.
2000-2002 - He won won a full term and was reelected. Isakson never faced a truly serious or well-financed challenge in either election.
2003–2004 - His campaign for the Senate, he took the same position as President Bush, saying we needed to "create a culture of life" in America.
