1916 – He was born on the 8th day of May this year in Indiana; at age 17, he came to Hollywood and changed his name. He learned to train animals while recovering from a serious automobile accident in Culver City, California.
1939 – The Patsy Award (Picture Animal Top Star of the Year) was originated by the Hollywood office of the American Humane Association in this year.
1960 – Mr. Inn rescued the original Benji from the Burbank Animal Shelter in this year. It grew up to star in the TV series Petticoat Junction and came out of retirement years later to make the first Benji film, which was shot in McKinney.
1974 – The dog starred in the 1974 feature film “Benji”.
1977 – His dog starred again in this year’s sequel “For the Love of Benji”. Frank Inn was the proud owner of over 40 Patsy awards.
1987 – He trained Benji’s son in the following three movies and did acting turns as himself in Benji the Hunted in this year.
2002 – He departed this life on the 27th day of July this year at age 86.
