Hunt, Lamar
1932 - He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on the 2nd of August. The Founder of the American Football League
1960 - Frustrated but fabulously rich, Hunt began calling other millionaires, and organized a rival pro football circuit, the American Football League.
1967 - Hunt was also involved in the formation of one now-defunct sports league, the North American Soccer League, a pro circuit.
- Involved in the formation of another now-defunct sports league, the World Championship Tennis, a pro tennis tour.
1972 - The AFC championship trophy is named in his honor, and he was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
- Hunt also helped establish the Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun theme parks.
1982 - Inducted on the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
1993 - Inducted on the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
1999 - The United States Soccer Federation's championship trophy was re-named in Hunt's honor.
2006 - Lamar Hunt died at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas of complications related to a ten-year battle with prostate cancer on the 13th of December.
