1941 - Received his M.A. in Literature from University of Iowa.
1944 - Earned his PhD in Philosophy from Columbia University.
1946-1971 - Wrote the books, Meaning and Truth in the Arts, Readings in Ethical Theory, An Introduction to Philosophical Analysis, Readings in Introductory Philosophical Analysis, Libertarianism: A Political Philosophy for Tomorrow and Artistic Expression.
1972 - Was the first Libertarian candidate for President of the United States.
1980 - Wrote The Literature of Ethics in the Twentieth Century and Human Conduct: Problems of Ethics.
