1914 – She was born on the 14th day of April this year.

 

1935 – She appeared as Baroness Frankenstein in The Bride of Frankenstein in this year with Boris Karloff and Colin Clive, taking over the role from Mae Clarke, who had played it in the original Frankenstein in 1932.

 

1938 - She was a delightful "Nora Charles" type in the 1938 murder mystery This Man is News.

 

1939 – She was both sexy and resourceful opposite Conrad Veidt in a brace of espionage thrillers, The Spy in Black in this year and Contraband in 1940.

 

1946 - She was well-known for playing the adult Estella in David Lean's Great Expectations.

 

1949 - Her best-known performance was as the "good" girl in the comedy, Kind Hearts and Coronets in this year. Hobson was also seen at her best in her postwar films, notably as the demure lady love of homicidal Dennis Price in Kind Hearts and Coronets.

 

1952 - She divorced her first husband, film producer Sir Anthony Havelock-Allan in this year.

 

1954 - Hobson retired from films in this year to marry future British Minister of War John Profumo.

 

1963 - After Profumo's ministerial career ended in disgrace in 1963, following revelations he had lied to the House of Commons about his affair with Christine Keeler, she stood by him, and they worked together for charity for the remainder of her life.

 

1998 – She passed away at age 81 on the 13th of November this year.
