1926 – He received a telegram from friend Herman J. Mankiewicz, who had recently arrived in Los Angeles.

1927 – Hecht eventually moved to Hollywood, where he scripted Josef von Sternberg’s gangster story Underworld, and won an Oscar for his work at the first Academy Awards presentation.

1950 – Hecht had an early talk show on television in the New York metropolitan area.

1953 – He wrote the book for the Broadway musical Hazel Flagg.

1964 – Died on the 18th of April.
