1924 - Born on the 19th of December in Montreal, Quebec.

 

1947 - He played for Montreal Canadiens of the NHL.

 

1951-1952 - He became an All-Star team member.

 

1954 - Scored the Cup-winning goal against the Detroit Red Wings and earned the Stanley cup.

 

1955 - He won his first of seven James Norris Memorial Trophy.

 

1963 - Doug went to New York and played for several teams before finishing his NHL career

 

1969 - Played for St. Louis Blues.

 

1973 - He was unanimously voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

 

1985 - He was offered a job with the Montreal Canadiens as a scout.

 

         - He retired from playing hockey.

 

1998 - Doug was ranked number 6 on the Hockey News list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players.

 

2000 - Doug was honored by the government of Canada by placing his image on a Canadian postage stamp.
