1849 - Was born Ty'n-y-groes, Conwy, on the 18th of September.
1883 - His commission to paint the Fathers of Confederation came early in his career and it established his reputation as a portrait artist.
1884 - The Fathers of Confederation.
1893 - He was a founding member of the Royal Canadian Academy (RCA) and elected president of the RCA. An important collection of his works is housed at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown.
1919 - Died on the 27th of February.
