1721 - John Hanson, born on the 13th of April in Charles County, Maryland. American Revolutionary leader and president under the U.S. Articles of Confederation.
1757 - 1779 - Member of the Maryland Assembly.
1780 - 1782 - He represented Maryland in the Continental Congress.
1781 - On the 5th of November, he was elected by the Continental Congress “President of the United States in Congress Assembled,” an office he held for one year. He is sometimes referred to as “the first president of the United States,” but he was a congressional presiding officer and had none of the powers of the president under the Constitution.
1783 - Died on the 22nd of November in Oxon Hill, Maryland, U.S.
