1929 - Jurgen Habermas, born on the 18th of June in Düsseldorf, W Germany. He is a German philosopher and sociologist in the tradition of critical theory and American pragmatism.

1962 - 1964 - He studied at Göttingen and Bonn universities, taught at Heidelberg  and Frankfurt.

1971 - Became director of the Max Planck Institute.

1968 - 1982 - His books include Erkenntnis und Interesse (Knowledge and Human Interests) and Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns (Theory of Communicative Action).

1986 - He received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, which is the highest honour awarded in German research.

       - He is also a Permanent Visiting Professor at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

1988 - He was elected as a member of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

2005 - He received the Holberg International Memorial Prize (about € 520 000).
