During World War II he worked with Nortraship in the Statistical Department in New York City.
1946 – He received his Ph.D. for his work on The Probability Approach in Econometrics 1944.
1947-1948 – Trade department head of division.
1948-1979 – Professor in economics and statistics at the University.
1989 – Awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics "for his clarification of the probability theory foundations of econometrics and his analyses of simultaneous economic structures."
1999 – Trygve Magnus Haavelmo died 28th of July.
