1879-1907 – He was sent to work at the Bank of England in and rose through the ranks until retiring as its Secretary due to ill health.

1908 – The Wind in the Willows".

1932 – Kenneth Grahame died in Pangbourne, Berkshire on the 6th of July. He is buried in Holywell Cemetery, Oxford, near the grave of the American expatriate author James Blish.
