1965 - Gong Li, born on the 31st of December in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. She s a Chinese film actress. She first came into international prominence through close collaboration with Chinese director Zhang Yimou.

1988 - She was still in acting school when she got the lead role in the film Red Sorghum.

1992 - 1993 - She was an international hit and starred in many Chinese films throughout, including The Story of Qiu Ju and Farewell My Concubine.

1995 - She made several films with director Yimou Zhang, with whom she had a personal relationship.

1997 - 2005 - She has also appeared in Chinese Box, with Jeremy Irons, The Emperor and the Assassin and Memoirs of a Geisha starring Michelle Yeoh.

2006 - She also appeared in the film adaptation of Miami Vice.

       - Starred in Zhang Yimou's Curse of the Golden Flower.

2007 - Film Hannibal Rising, the prequel to the other three Hannibal Lecter films.
