1879 - Born on July in Warsaw, Poland, Russian Empire.
1913 - Their initial release was Cecil B. deMille's Squaw Man, one of the first full-length feature films made in Hollywood.
1917 - The company merged with Adolph Zukor's Famous Players Film Company, and Goldwyn became the chairman of the board of the Famous Players–Lasky Company.
1924 - He established the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation, which was incorporated into Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
1940 - He thereafter worked as an independent producer, distributing his films through the United Artists Corporation, then through RKO.
1936 - His films have a literary flavour, among them Dodsworth.
1939 - The Wuthering Heights.
1941 - The Little Foxes.
1946 - He is also remembered for more purely cinematic features, such as The Best Years of Our Lives.
1955 - The Guys and Dolls.
1959 - The Porgy and Bess.
1974 - Died on the 31st of January in Los Angeles, California.
