1964 – She was born on the 28th day of September of this year in Newton, New Jersey. She grew up in various places, including Katy, Texas and Ontario, California. While studying history at Providence College, Garofalo entered a comedy talent search sponsored by the Showtime cable network, winning the title of "Funniest Person in Rhode Island."

 

1985 - She worked as a bike messenger, a shoe salesperson, waitress, and secretary. Watching David Letterman on TV inspired her to write comedy, and by this year, she was doing stand up comedy.

 

1992 - Janeane did sketches on "The Ben Stiller Show" in this year, which is an Emmy winning, but canceled show. She would continue to collaborate with Ben Stiller in future projects. She received two Emmy nominations for her work on "The Larry Sanders Show" .

 

1994 - She was not happy with her "Saturday Night Live" (1975) stint in this year, and was vocal about it.

 

1997 – She portrayed portrayed a smart, cynical, successful businesswomen with a razor wit in “Romy and Michele's High School Reunion”. He was also nominated at this year’s MTV Movie Award - Best Comedic Performance for her performance in "The Truth about Cats & Dogs"

 

2000 - Garofalo has been open and outspoken regarding her liberal political views, appearing in the past with figures such as Ralph Nader (whom she supported in this year, but opposed in 2004) and Jello Biafra at various events. She has expressed feminist views in interviews throughout her career and more recently, advocated pacifism. She is an atheist and has done radio spots for the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

 

2004 - In late March of this nyear, she became a co-host for Air America Radio's new show The Majority Report alongside Sam Seder.

 

2005 – Thoughout the television season, Garofalo appeared on The West Wing as Louise Thornton, a controversial campaign adviser to the fictional Democratic presidential nominee.

 

2006 – She announced that she would be leaving her co-host position on The Majority Report. Although several reasons for her departure were cited, including her outside acting responsibilities, the relationship between Garofalo and co-host Seder had become increasingly strained, largely due to her support for the Scientology-linked program. Her last broadcast as co-host of The Majority Report aired on July 21, 2006.

 

2007 - She is planning a series of appearances in New York and Los Angeles with former AAR personality Marc Maron and musician Henry Rollins starting in April of this year.
