1937 - Morgan Freeman, born on the 1st of June in
Memphis, Tennessee, USA. He is an Academy Award-winning American actor, film director, and regular film narrator.

1949 - At the age of 12, he won a state-wide drama competition, but turned down a partial scholarship in drama, from Jackson State University, to serve in the Air Force.

1965 - He worked as an extra on the feature film, ‘The Pawnbroker’, and a few years later made his Broadway debut in ‘Hello, Dolly!’

1971 - He made his film debut with ‘Who Says I Can't Ride a Rainbow?’

1987 - His big movie breakthrough came playing the villain ‘Fast Black’, a pimp in ‘Street Smart’.

1990 - The menacing role earned him an Oscar nomination for supporting actor, but his next Oscar bid - two years later for ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ - changed the way producers were willing to cast him.

1994 - He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Million Dollar Baby at the 77th Academy Awards.

2006 - He began filming Rob Reiner's The Bucket List, opposite Jack Nicholson, playing dying men who must fulfill their list of goals.

       - On Saturday, 28th of October, he was honored at the 1st Mississippi's Best Awards in Jackson, Mississippi with the Lifetime Achievement Award award for his tireless works on and off the big screen.
