1809 - Born on March 31st in Bredfield House in Suffolk. English writer, best known for his Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, which, though it is a very free adaptation and selection from the Persian poet's verses, stands on its own as a classic of English literature.
1854 - His first book, “Euphranor”, a dialogue on youth, appeared when he was 42.
1859 - Fitzgerald's "Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám" was published.
1883 - Died on June 14th in Merton, Norfolk.
