Fabius, Laurent(Laurent Fabius)
1946 - Born on August 20th in Paris, France. French left-wing politician.
1978 - Fabius was elected to the National Assembly.
1981-1983 - After the socialist victory, he served as Budget Minister and Minister for Research and Industry.
1984-1986 - Was the Socialist Prime Minister of France. - Fabius resigned following the French Socialist Party defeat.
1988 - He returned to power when he became President of the National Assembly.
1992 - He became the First Secretary.
1995 - Became president of the Socialist bloc in the National Assembly.
2000-2002 - He was finance minister under Premier Lionel Jospin.
2005 - Fabius broke with his party and campaigned against the proposed European Union constitution, which French voters rejected.
2006 - Was an unsuccessful candidate for the Socialist party's nomination for the presidency.
