1896 – Born on November 23rd in David City, Nebraska. Celebrated singing star of American stage, radio and recordings, she popularized the torch song "You Made Me Love You," among others.

1922 – Married to Moe The Gimp’ Schneider’ on July 12th.

1926 – Ruth Etting made her first record. She starred on Broadway, made movies in Hollywood, married a mobster, had number-one-hit-records, fell in love and was known as America’s Sweetheart of Song.

1929 – She starred with Eddie Cantor in  Whoopee!

1938 – Married to Myrl Alderman on December.

1978 – Died on September 24th in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
