1832 - He traveled west as Commissioner of Indian tribes in Arkansas and Oklahoma, United States.

1835 - He was elected as a mayor of Hartford, Connecticut, United States, but served only one month.

      - He served as a first commissioner of the United States Patent Office.

1857 - He returned to Connecticut.

1858 - He died on the 27th of Decembar in Fair Haven, Connecticut, United States.
