1241 - Eleanor of Castile, born in Castile, Spain, daughter of Fernando III, King of Castile and Leon and his second wife, Jeanne, Countess of Ponthieu.. She was the first Queen consort of Edward I of England.

1254 - After haggling over the financial provision for her, Henry and Alfonso agreed she would marry Henry's son Edward, and Alfonso would transfer his Gascon claims to Edward.

       - The young couple married at Burgos in Castile on the 1st of November.

1264 - Rumors that she sought more troops from Castile led to her removal from Windsor Castle in June after the Battle of Lewes; Edward was imprisoned and she was kept at Westminster.

1270 - The kingdom was pacified and Edward and she left to join his uncle Louis IX of France on the Eighth Crusade.

1284 - Famously giving birth to their son Edward on the  25th of April.

1290 - She died there on the evening of the 28th of November in Harby, Nottinghamshire.
