1907 - Born on the 3rd of September in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States.

1933 - He was diagnosed with tuberculosis.

       - He left the University of Nebraska and moved to the western United States desert.

1937 - He received his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

1944 - He left the University of Kansas to served as a head of the Department of Sociology.

       - He served as a Anthropology at Oberlin College in Ohio, United States.

1947 - He returned to Pennsylvania as head of the Anthropology Department.

1949 - He was elected as a president of the American Institute of Human Paleontology.

1958 - His book "Darwin’s Century" won the Phi Beta Kappa prize for best book in science.

1959 - He was provost at the University of Pennsylvania.

1961 - He accepted a fellowship at Stanford University in California, U.S.A.

1962 - He returned to his chairmanship in Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

1977 - He died on the 9th of July.
