1919 - Born in New York City on the 4th of April.
1955 - "Dungaree Doll!, a hit for Eddie Fisher.
1957 - "Wonderful, Wonderful", a success for Johnny Mathis.
1959 - Broken Hearted Melody", a hit for Sarah Vaughan.
1960 - "Flaming Star", the theme song for the Elvis Presley film
1962 - "Johnny Get Angry", a hit for Joanie Sommers.
1966 - "See You In September", a hit for The Happenings.
1969 - It opened at the 46th Street Theatre on the 16th of March and ran for 1217 performances.
1776 - Edwards' crowning achievement was the musical for which he wrote both lyrics and music.
- The show depicts the meeting of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia culminating with the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
- Won a Tony Award for Best Musical.
1981 - Died on the 30th of March.
