1935 - He was re-elected as Parliament.

1937 - He served as a charter of mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Surrey, England.

1945 - He served as a Home Secretary in Labour Government.

1951 - He served as a Leader of the House of Commons.

1964 - He left the House of Commons.

1965 - He died on the 11th of November.
