1884 - Born on the 26th of December in Cayenne, France.
1936 - He was made Governor of Guadeloupe, France.
1939 - He was transferred to Chad.
1940 - He was instrumental in developing Chadian support for the Free French .
- As Governor of the whole area, he acted to improve the status of Africans.
1941 - His circular La nouvelle politique indigène ("New Native Policy"), put out on the 8th of November.
1944 - He died on the 17th of March because of heart attack.
