Eastwick, Edward Backhouse
1814 - Born on the 8th of November.
1836 - He joined the Bombay infantry.
1845 - He was appointed professor of Hindustani at Haileybury College.
1847 - He published a Hindustani grammar.
1851 - He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.
1857 - He edited The Autobiography of Latfullah.
- He also edited for the Bible Society the Book of Genesis in the Dakhani language.
1860 - He served in Persia as secretary to the British Legation.
1866 - He became private secretary to the secretary of state for India.
1867 - He went to Venezuela for government mission.
1868 - He became Member of Parliament (MP).
1875 - He received the degree of Master of Arts with the franchise from the University of Oxford.
1883 - He died on the 16th of July in Vantnor, Isle of Wight.
