1958 - Born on October 23rd in Detroit, Michigan. Michael Eric Dyson is a professor of communication studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also the director of the Institute of African-American Research at UNC.

1992 - Married his wife Marcia Louise on June 24th.

1994 - He taught at the Chicago Theological Seminary and then at Brown University before going to North Carolina.

 

- Dyson is also an ordained Baptist minister. He has many projects underway including a new collection of interviews and essays. He has appeared on television talk shows such as "Charlie Rose," "Nightline," and "Oprah Winfrey."

1995-1996 - He is the author of four books, "Race Rules", "Reflecting Black", "Making Malcolm", and "Between God and Gangsta Rap".

1998 - He wrote his memoir, titled "How I Got Over".

2006-2007 - He was the host of the radio program "The Michael Eris Dyson Show".
