1907 - Francois Duvalier was born in Port-au-Prince on the 14th of April.

 

1934 - He served in Hospitals and clinics, specializing in the treatment of the tropical disease yaws.

 

1939 - He was married to Simone Ovide.

 

1946-1950 - He was director general of the National Public Health Service and secretary of labor.

 

1946 - He became director general of the national health service.

 

1949 - He served as minister of both health and labor.

 

1950 - He led the resistance to President Paul Eugene Magloire.

 

1957 - He was the President of Haiti.

 

1959 - He formed a personal militia known as the Voluntary Militia for National Security.

 

1961 - He rewrote the constitution and staged a single-candidate sham election.

 

1964 - He was later declared himself as president for life.

 

1966 - He persuaded the Vatican to allow him to nominate the Catholic hierarchy for Haiti.

 

1971 - He died on the 21st of April.
