1794 - Born on February 22nd in in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky. A Representative from Illinois.

1812 - Was commissioned ensign in the Seventeenth Infantry during the War.

1814 - Promoted to first lieutenant in the Forty-sixth Infantry.

1822 - Appointed major general of State militia and commanded Illinois troops in the Black Hawk War.

1824 - Was a member of the State senate.

1827 - Elected as a Jacksonian to the Twentieth and to the three succeeding Congresses.

1834 - Elected Governor of Illinois.

1835 - Received the testimonial of a sword for his part in the defense of Fort Stephenson, Ohio.

1844 - Died on January 15th in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois.
