1877 - Born on July 27th in Pozsony, Hungary. Hungarian composer, pianist, and conductor, principally known for his Variations on a Nursery Song for piano and orchestra.
1894-1897 - Dohnányi studied in Budapest at the Royal Academy of Music, where his first symphony was performed.
- He started to compose music that quickly became nationally recognized.
1919 - Von Dohnányi was also a permanent conductor of the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra.
1924 - Composed Variations on Hungarian Folk Songs, Pastorale (Hungarian Christmas Song), Ruralia Hungarica, Variations of a Nursery Song and American Rhapsody.
1941 - Conducted its premiere in Budapest.
1949 - Was probably the most important composer with Florida ties, having taught at FSU.
1960 - Died on February 9th in New York, New York.
