Dillon, John
1851 - Born on September 4th in Blackrock, County Dublin, Ireland. A leader of the Irish Nationalist Party in the struggle to secure Home Rule by parliamentary means.
1880 - Entered Parliament as a Parnellite. He was arrested and imprisoned several times for his advocacy of boycotting and agrarian agitation.
1900 - Dillon led the anti-Parnell faction until the Nationalist party was reunited under the leadership of John Redmond.
1918 - He succeeded Redmond in the leadership of the Nationalist party, but his career came to an end after the Sinn Féin victory in the election.
1927 - Died on August 4th in London.
