1945 - Born on December 22nd in Glasgow, Kentucky.

1963 - Won in the America's Junior Miss pageant at Seneca High School, Louisville, Kentucky.

1967 - She received her B.A. English degree at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.

1970-1974 - Served as a local TV news reporter for WLKY-TV in Louisville, Kentucky.

         - Hired by White House press secretary Ron Ziegler to serve in the administration of President Richard Nixon through his resignation.

1975 - Worked on the transition team between Nixon and Gerald Ford and assisting Nixon with his memoirs.

1978 - She joined the CBS network in Washington, DC and became a political correspondent for CBS.

1981 - Became a co-anchor of the CBS Morning News.

1984 - She became a correspondent for 60 Minutes, where she stayed for five years.

1988 - Married the film director, Mike Nichols, on April 29th.

1989 - She moved to ABC to co-anchor "Primetime Live" with Sam Donaldson.
