1873 - Lee De Forest was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on the 26th of August.
1893 - He enrolled at the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale University.
1896 - He recieved his Bachelor's degree.
1899 - He earned his Ph.D. with a doctoral dissertion on radio waves.
1906 - He invented the Audion tube and developed an improved wireless telegraph receiver. He married to Lucille Sheardown.
1907 - He married Nora Blatch after his divorced to Lucille Sheardown. He filed a patent for a three-electrode version of the Audion in January.
1908 - His three-electrode version of the Audion was granted US Patent 879,532 in February.
1910 - He attempted the first live broadcast from New York's Metropolitan Opera House.
1912 - He married Mary Mayo after divorcing to Nora Blatch.
1913 - He was sued for fraud by the United States District Attorney on behalf of his shareholders.
1916 - He pioneered radio news and broadcasting.
1919 - He filed his first patent on a sound-on-film process which improved on the work of German inventors and called it the De Forest Phonofilm process.
1922 - He received the IRE Medal of Honor.
1923 - He premiered 18 short films made the Phonofilm at the Rivoli Theater in New York City on the 15th of April.
1930 - He maried Marie Mosquini.
1931 - He sold one of his radio manufacturing firms to RCA.
1934 - He won the court battle but he lost the battle for public opinion.
1946 - He received the Edison Medal of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers.
1957 - He was a guets celebrity on the episode of the television show "This is Your Life" on the 22th of May and was introduced as the "Father of Radio and the Grandfather of Television".
1959 - He received an honorary Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
1961 - He died in Los Angeles, California on the 30th of June.
