1925 - Born on the 8th of December in Harlem, New York to Elvera Sanchez, an American of Puerto Rican ancestry, and Sammy Davis, Sr., an African-American entertainer.
1954 - Experienced a car accident in San Bernardino, California and lost his left eye. It occurred in the U.S. Highway 66 at a railroad bridge.
1959 - Became the coolest hep cat in the Rat Pack, led by Frank Sinatra.
1960 - Married May Britt, a white Swedish actress and stirred up a controversy. They had a daughter and adopted 2 sons.
1964 - Starred in the Broadway Musical " Golden Boy" for which he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor (Musical) but lost to Zero Mostel for " Fiddler on the Roof".
1968 - Divorced May Britt and admitted that he had an affair with Lola Falana.
1970 - Dated and married Altovise Gore, a dancer in "Golden Boy" until his death.
1972 - Left Reprise Records but performed one song before leaving. The song "Candy Man" was the biggest hit record of his career.
1990 - Died of complications from throat cancer, on 16th of May in Beverly Hills, California.
