1903 - Received his Law degree from Washington University.

 

1904 - Became member of the public library board.

 

1905 - He married Helen Brooks.

 

1907 - Served as member of the house of delegates of the city government.

 

1908 - He served on the executive committee of the National Municipal League.

 

1911 - Became chairman of the City Planning Commission.

 

1917 - Served as director of the War Finance Corporation.

 

1923 - He was the United States Assistant Secretary of War.

 

1925 - Became United States Secretary of War.

 

1929 - He became Governor General of the Philippines.

 

1936 - After the death of his wife Helen Brooks, he married for the second time to Pauline Morton Sabin.

 

1942 - Served as a Director General of the United States Army Specialist Corps.

 

1945 - Died on the 28th of November in Washington, D.C.
