1807 - Born on the 16th of January. He was a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy.
1823 - Commissioned as a Midshipman on 12th of August.
1827-1828 - Served on board the frigate the USS United States, in the Pacific.
1829 - Promoted to Passed Midshipman.
1830-1833 - Served on the sloop the USS Ontario.
1834 - He was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the USS Vincennes.
1840-1841 - Served on board the USS Independence.
1846-1849 - Worked in the United States Coast Survey on board the USS Nantucket.
1854 - Promoted to Commander and given the command of the USS St. Mary's.
1859 - Ordered to go to Baker's Island to obtain samples of guano.
1861 - He was promoted to Captain.
1862 - Commanded the Mississippi Flotilla and fought a short battle with Confederate ships near Fort Pillow.
1863 - On 7th of February, he was promoted to Rear Admiral.
1865-1867 - Served as the Superintendent of the United States Naval Observatory.
1867 - He was given command of the South Atlantic squadron and was given the USS Guerriere as his flagship.
1869 - Returned home and served both on the Lighthouse Board as well as in the Naval Observatory.
1877 - Charles Henry Davis died on the 18th of February.
