1817 - Thomas Davidson was born on the 17th of May in Edinburgh.

 

1837 - He was induced through the influence of Leopold von Buch to devote his special attention to the brachiopoda.

 

1857 - He was elected FRS.

 

1865 - Awarded the Wollaston medal by the Geological Society of London.

 

1870 - Received the Royal medal by the Royal Society.

 

1882 - Obtained degree of LL.D. and was conferred upon him by the university of St Andrews.

 

1885 - He died at Brighton on the 14th of October.
