1817 – Thomas Davidson was born on the 17th of May in Edinburgh.


1837 – He was induced through the influence of Leopold von Buch to devote his special attention to the brachiopoda.


1857 – He was elected FRS.


1865 – Awarded the Wollaston medal by the Geological Society of London.


1870 – Received the Royal medal by the Royal Society.


1882 – Obtained degree of LL.D. and was conferred upon him by the university of St Andrews.


1885 – He died at Brighton on the 14th of October.
