1838 – Born on the 15th of March in Kuldiga, Latvia, Imperial Russia.


He studied mathematics at St. Petersburg University.


Pursued a career as a composer, studying with Moritz Hauptmann at the Leipzig Conservatory.


1850 – He became a full-time cellist while continuing to compose.


        – Became head of the St Petersburg Conservatory.


1870 – Count Wilhorsky, a patron of the arts, presented Davydov with a Stradivarius cello.


1889 – Died on 26th of February in at the age of 51 at Moscow, Imperial Russia.
