1943 - Born in Troy, Alabama, on the 8th of June.
1964 - Reached the semi-finals of the 110 m hurdles event in his first olympic competition.
1968 - He reached the final and won in the 110 m hurdles: He said, "From the first step, the gun, I knew I had won the race."
1972 - Finished fourth, and in his third consecutive Olympic 110 m hurdles.
1976 - Rank third on the Olympic to capture the bronze medal.
1980 - He took part in the Olympic Winter Games as a runner for the American bobsleigh team.
2002 - He died of a heart attack at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on 17th of June.
