1808 - Born on the 20th of February Marseille, France.

 

Daumier joined staff of Louis-Philippe, Philipon launched the comic journal, La Caricature.

 

1832 - His caricature of the king as "Gargantua" led to him imprisonment for six months at Ste. Pélagie.

 

1848 - He embarked again on his political campaign, still in the service of Charivari.

 

1860 - He left in the service and rejoined in 1864.

 

1878 - Durand-Ruel collected his works for exhibition.

 

1879 - He died on 11th of February in Valmondois, France.

 

1900 - An exhibition of his works was held at the École des Beaux-Arts.
