1845 – Born on the 9th of July in Down House, the 2nd son and fifth child of Charles and Emma Darwin.
1883 – Became Plumian Professor of Astronomy and Experimental Philosophy at Cambridge University.
He studied tidal forces involving the Sun, Moon, and Earth, and formulated the fission theory of Moon formation.
1892 – Won the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society and later served as president of the organization.
Darwin married Martha (Maud) du Puy of Philadelphia and they had two sons and two daughters.
1912 – Sir George Howard Darwin died on 7th of December.
